I have taken my time wanting to review this song. I have a feeling it's a piece of the long awaited Death by Stereo by Umphrey's McGee. Though I am not going it has not grown on me, it has a comfortable feeling about it. I am not at all a 'Walletworth' fan, at all. Let's just say that song has done it's job for me, and I have heard it a billion times. It's not really a bathroom song, but it's just not exciting as it once was to me. Anywho.....
....Back to the 'Virtue'...it fades in, while has the optimistic feeling about it. It is a refreshing. If someone who is not a jam band fan heard this song, they'd think it was a fresh new band, not a 13 year old jam band. It has a very foot tapping beat, not in the annoying way, but in a fun, hopeful, everything will work in the end type feeling. Time, life and taking chances like in most things is the main point of the song.
It's a Brendan Bayliss lead song, his vocal's that is. There are no outrageous Jaco solos, but there are some piano fills by Joel Cummins. Andy Farag, Kris Myers & Ryan Stasik keep the beat long lasting in your head after the song has ended. The song takes a while to build up, but at the same time ends as fast as it built up.
(again, quick review, haven't heard the song live, nor have I heard the whole Death by Stereo. )
The more you know....
